7 checks for blurry Teams screen sharing on a Mac

1. Turn off any privacy or focus overlay. If the active window becomes sharp while only other windows change, the blur was intentional rather than a Teams quality fault.
2. Open Teams Call health. During the meeting, choose More actions → Settings → Call health. Microsoft exposes screen-sharing frame rate, sent resolution, codec, processing, and network metrics there.
3. Check the sent width and height. Microsoft lists a normal adaptive range from 160×90 up to 1920×1080 pixels. A low value while sharing detailed text can explain why viewers see a soft image.
4. Check the sent frame rate. Teams can send between 1 and 30 frames per second depending on the content. A low frame rate is expected for static slides, but it can look poor when you scroll or play motion-heavy content.
5. Share one window when possible. A window share keeps unrelated desktop content out of the feed and gives viewers one clear target. Use the entire screen only when you need to move between apps.
6. Try native macOS sharing. In Teams Settings → General → Screen sharing, Microsoft offers “Use macOS content sharing.” Test both sharing paths if one produces a consistently soft result.
7. Reduce resource and network pressure. Close unused apps, pause large transfers, update Teams and macOS, then retry. Microsoft notes that Teams adapts quality to network traffic, device resources, and the type of content being shared.
