1. Install and open Veil
Download the latest DMG and launch Veil. The app is designed to live in the menu bar so you can turn it on and off quickly without changing your desktop layout.
2. Grant Accessibility permission
Veil needs Accessibility permission to detect which window is active and apply the blur effect correctly. If this is the step you are stuck on, use the dedicated Accessibility permission guide.
3. Choose your Cover App
Open the app you want to keep visible, then choose it as the Cover App. This gives Veil a clear target while the rest of your desktop stays protected.
4. Use Peek when you need the full desktop
Peek is for temporary reveal. It lets you inspect the whole desktop without abandoning the privacy workflow completely.
